Chemical engineering refers to a branch of engineering that studies the design and operation of chemical plants, as well as methods for increasing production. It applies the principles of biology, physics, economics, chemistry and mathematics to create, transform, design, use and transport materials and energy in an effective manner. There are five basic types of chemical engineering operations, namely, fluid flow processes, heat transfer processes, mass transfer processes, thermodynamic processes and mechanical processes.
