This contributed volume covers a broad range of topics related to landslide susceptibility including modeling, related social issues, resulting natural resource depletion, sustainability challenges, and more. The book is divided in six sections. Section I contains the introductory chapters where the book takes a multidisciplinary approach to exploring conceptualizations of landslides and other disasters. Section II discusses geographical and geological aspects of landslides, including various susceptibility modeling techniques and accuracy assessments. Section III addresses the roots and causes of landslides. Section IV highlights landslides' impact on the populations near where they take place. Section V discusses sustainability in the context of landslides and other disasters. Section VI concludes the book with a discussion of ways to reduce landslides and prepare for them in Tamil Nadu, India.
