Alex had never known true love.
On his fiftieth birthday, he remains alone after many failed relationships. He has struggled with emotional issues since he was young. All Alex wanted was to find someone who loved him deeply-someone who couldn't imagine life without him despite his flaws.
This longing stayed with him his whole life, but Alex felt unworthy of it. During his birthday celebration, old patterns of dysfunction pulled him back into familiar struggles when he met a married man sitting at the table next to him, also celebrating his fiftieth birthday.
The last thing Alex wanted was to get involved with a married man. But Alex rarely did things that were good for him.
