The twins couldn't think of another gran who lived with a transsexual and was about to hop it to India to meet her husband's mistress. If life's tricky for pubescent twins, it's a lot more challenging for their gran, Enid, recently widowed and up to her elbows in scones and good works in Ripon. Enid misses her husband, the grumpy and secretive Gerry. She misses men, she misses sex. Then comes a bombshell in the form of Vijaya: a beautiful, exotic young woman who arrives from India, claiming to be Gerry's daughter, the fruit of a long-term affair. Enid is faced with dealing with the fallout, as her entire family reels from the shock. As she confronts her husband's past, she realises she has two options: let the bitterness take over, or at last lay claim to her own wants and desires. Re-encountering the bewildering world of dating dilemmas, will Enid get mired in the so-called hinterland of womanhood, or will she succeed in navigating the terrain of second adolescence?
