Pełny opis

At Blackwater Hollow, an ancient bridge spans a ravine believed to devour names, histories, and anyone foolish enough to challenge it. Its fearsome tollkeeper, Vespera, has guarded the crossing for longer than most kingdoms can remember. When Dr. Elira Maelis, an archivist carrying a mysterious blue lantern, arrives to document the bridge's anomalies, she discovers that Vespera is not merely its guardian. She is part of the seal holding something incomprehensible beneath the mountain.

Known only as the Underthing, the presence below the bridge is an unfinished name-a fractured force attempting to complete itself through Vespera. Rather than destroy it or allow it to consume her, Vespera and Elira interrupt its ascent. Their resistance teaches the entity something it has never understood: hesitation. What begins as a desperate struggle becomes an extraordinary negotiation as the Underthing gradually learns choice, consequence, repair, trust, doubt, and the ability to reject its own commands.

As the Hollow transforms, the boundaries between guardian and prisoner, bridge and doorway, observer and observed begin to dissolve. Elira and Vespera remain together while the ancient system learns to exist without demanding completion, unity, ownership, or even meaning. In the end, Blackwater Hollow becomes something beyond a place or creature-an endless state of becoming that no longer needs to be named, witnessed, or explained.
