[Understanding as Appropriation. Hermeneutics in the Gospel of Mark]§The Gospel of Mark has a distinct concept of understanding. It is developed through the representation of the narrated story. This thesis Beck substantiates in his book compellingly. Because the demonstration of such a Markan hermeneutics is itself an interpretation, the first part clarifies the premises and foundations of a hermeneutics, which can be adequately applied to the Gospel of Mark as a narrative text.§In usage of this hermeneutics, the second part shows - by means of a detailed exegesis - the hermeneutics, which the Gospel of Mark itself addresses. Appropriate understanding of Jesus and the kingdom of God is accordingly an existentially comprehensive act which as appropriation in each case implies a dispossession of the previous assured concept of the own self and identity.
