It's hard to keep a generational secret. Hiding stuff gradually makes you more secret than person until you have to start taking charge of that tangle and through healing become who you are. Diagnosed with Auditory Processing Disorder and learning disabilities might have been the end of my ambitions if it wasn't for a book. A lifetime bookworm, many books have been life rafts for me. Books, movies, and cartoons, that is. I wanted to prove to myself that I was smart despite the diagnoses. After a decade of counseling and finally completing my PhD which specializes in training counselors to sit with stories for the sake of transformation, I have put this pattern of secret-keeping onto paper. Thus, here is a memoir by someone with a history of learning and communication challenges who is now undergoing a transformation needed to explore the entertainment industry and her love of storytelling.
