Wealthy, after having sold a successful business, now forlorn and feeling guilty about an unresolved past, Edward settles in the tiny Swiss village of Sczizo, longing for freedom, peace and comfort.

The grape growers of the hamlet, steeped in age-old traditions, but confronted with modern-day market forces, face hardship and call on him for help. Edward refuses, and when he befriends a farmer's daughter the locals begin to spin a web around him. A stark choice confronts Edward: surrender or move out.
