Like many MMORPG's, The Complex is addictive, immersive, and huge. Noë's grandmother wants her help with it, as the "price" of living with her while going to college. But nobody told them it was going to be a first-contact with (real) aliens adventure. There were a lot of things nobody told them:
We opened the double doors for the second time.
"Really? Rabbits?" Bella said.
"I hope we don't have to kill them," Iso said. "They're so cute."
"I guess the contents change with each door opening?" I said. "This is better than the skunks, anyhow."
"Yep," Bob said.
Beside Iso, BB began to growl.
Posy stepped forward and picked up a brown and white bun-bun. He held its ears and gently tipped the head back until the rabbit opened its mouth.
Its teeth were pointed. "I thought that's what I saw," Posy said.
Bunnies with carnivore teeth, nice.
Notification: Ifstander, level 10.
Yah, Ifstander, not bunnies.
And apparently they ate each other when they couldn't get something else, as we saw a bloody pelt down one aisle, two bunny-things fighting over it.
So far, they hadn't really seemed to notice us.
Of course, I should have never had that thought.
Two sat up on their haunches, little noses wriggling as they smelled Bob and me who were closest to them.
Then, as should be obvious to any gamer, they attacked.
