In order to have a better understanding and solution of individual or group problems the social worker must look at sociology. Social groups: Definition, Characteristics and Classification of Social Groups. Primary, Secondary and Reference Groups. Unit-III contains Social Stratification: Social Stratification in India- Class and Caste stratification Social Deviance and Social Control: Definition, Process and Mechanisms of Social Control. Unit-IV Social change: Concept, Definition, Characteristics and Factors leading to Social Change, Globalization and Society. Unit-V contains Social problems: Suicide, Domestic Violence, Alcoholism, Prostitution.
