Outsider Art Memory Game collects authentic works of art produced by off-beat artists. The task, as always, is to collect two cards that make one set. In this case, two artworks by the same artist. The sets are clearly recognizable by the style and expression of the artwork. To help, the brochure includes all the artworks in pairs and brief descriptions about the artists. The artists in this game do not consider art of the past; they have no formal artistic training and some are residents of psychiatric institutions. Their creativity has developed outside the framework of the mainstream art world and is largely ignored by it. Works of these kinds have traditionally been disregarded and treated as 'not real art'. However, in recent decades this has started to change. Works of art produced by 'outsiders' are increasingly shown at major venues like MoMA New York, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and last year's Venice Biennale.
