Ten years ago, the corrupt Holy Watikan Empire fell beneath the weight of its own hubris. The nations of the Commonwealth breathed a collective sigh of relief, and began to heal.
Scars tend to form from wounds such as this, however. One such scar is Matthias Cross, a former Justicar of the Church who gave up his faith to combat those who had desecrated its formerly pure meaning. He abandoned his station, and now wanders the land, trying to ignore a past that yet haunts him.
When Matthias encounters another of those scars in the form of an evil long since thought quelled, he is forced to confront the fact that the Faith he once held dear and has now lost may well be the only thing that can save the people he once fought to defend. The only question is whether or not he can allow himself to believe enough to do what he knows he must....
The Time of Ashes has come before, and now approaches again.
