The intensity of global competition increases with aggressiveness. As a result of its intensity,the globalisation brings with it, officiously and gratuitously, an impact that shakes up any industry. This phenomenon poses additional obstacles for all businesses. The present work provides an innovative framework for SMEs in the Design and Development of New Products. The model proposed, is expected to result in increased competitiveness and sustainability for industries, as well as the commercial success of their products. A change in the strategic positioning of their projects is suggested, encouraging the novelty to the market using innovative tools. The research was conducted using multiple sources of evidence, state-of-the-art of product development and diverse innovative methods. The innovation factor invariably contributes to the global competitiveness, as well as to the economic viability of many SMEs.
