Pełny opis

This study seeks to understand the contribution of information systems (IS) to organizational performance through a case study. The approach adopted relied on interviews and participant observation to describe the major organizational models in use. Thus, in this microfinance institution, which served as the empirical setting, we identified a parallel between the process model and the information model, the archetype of which is the information system. Consequently, aligning the information system was justified on two fronts: strategy and business processes; this, in turn, reflected a proactive managerial approach. However, the key question was to understand the resulting impact on overall performance. In this regard, the research revealed that the information system is effective in and of itself, as it holds the potential to meet the business's informational needs. However, the institution is highly exposed to operational risk, which the author attempted to quantify using the error recurrence rate. Ultimately, a management overhaul remains the key lever for making the information system efficient.
