A powerful and captivating story of newly-wed young Gracie and her husband, Jim Logue, who struggle to find their footing when they move to a small Irish village. Quickly they become targets of their scheming, neighbours Ann and Nevin, pub owners too, who are vehemently opposed to any competition.
Despite unwarranted hostility from the outset, Gracie finds success as a teacher and starts a knitting circle in the village. Personal trouble comes too when she struggles with postnatal depression, and the spiteful villagers who threaten her teaching job and her life in the community. And yet, Gracie prevails, battling against all odds and the relentless onslaught of jealous vindictive Ann, who cannot bear to see Gracie trying to better her family standing in the village.
