Pełny opis

Your first step into German begins.
Ihre ersten Schritte auf Deutsch

Can you read a German sentence yet? Perhaps not-but by the end of this book, you will. German Vocabulary Builder Pre-A1: First Steps is for complete beginners. It starts with the alphabet and sounds, then builds toward communication.

Build a Real Foundation

This book teaches more than isolated vocabulary. You will learn how German is written, pronounced, organised, and used.

  • Pronounce the German alphabet
  • Read ä, ö, ü, and ß correctly
  • Apply 22 core sound patterns
  • Count from 0 to 20
  • Use greetings, farewells, and polite phrases
  • Introduce yourself
  • Choose between du and Sie
  • Recognise approximately 360 essential words

Why German Is More Logical Than It Looks

German spelling is highly regular. Learn a small set of sound rules, and you can pronounce unfamiliar words far more reliably than in English.

  • Every noun is capitalised.
  • Every noun has a gender: der, die, or das.
  • Articles and plurals stay with the noun.

The golden rule: never learn Tisch alone. Learn der Tisch. Never learn Tür alone. Learn die Tür. The article is part of the word.

The Interlinear Method

German text is supported by direct English meaning, so you can understand what you read without constantly stopping for a dictionary.

No guessing.
No constant lookups.
Just clear, supported reading.

This method helps you notice word order, learn vocabulary in context, and focus on pronunciation. Each chapter also includes German-only reading and a natural English translation.

18 Structured Chapters

  • Chapters 1-2: alphabet, umlauts, ß, and 22 sound patterns
  • Chapters 3-4: greetings, farewells, and politeness
  • Chapters 5-6: numbers 0-20 and age
  • Chapters 7-10: colours, classroom language, and everyday objects
  • Chapters 11-14: questions, shapes, descriptions, and days
  • Chapters 15-17: self-introduction, ja, nein, doch, and social phrases
  • Chapter 18: complete review

Pronunciation Without IPA

Every word includes an English-style pronunciation guide. Capitals show stress, hyphens separate syllables, and noun articles are included.

Examples include dair TISH for der Tisch, dee SHOO-luh for die Schule, and dass BOOKH for das Buch.

Inside Every Chapter

  • Interlinear thematic introduction
  • German-only reading and natural English translation
  • Vocabulary with pronunciation and examples
  • Short dialogues and contextual readings
  • Exercises, pronunciation practice, and memory strategies
  • Self-assessment and complete answer key
