Why German Is More Logical Than It Looks
German spelling is highly regular. Learn a small set of sound rules, and you can pronounce unfamiliar words far more reliably than in English.
- Every noun is capitalised.
- Every noun has a gender: der, die, or das.
- Articles and plurals stay with the noun.
The golden rule: never learn Tisch alone. Learn der Tisch. Never learn Tür alone. Learn die Tür. The article is part of the word.
