After her defeat of the False God, formerly Amelia Roberts, now Amelia Silver, makes renewed efforts on her quest to become a fearsome Pyrate and avenge her family. To this end she becomes the apprentice of the Academy's resident, and the world's foremost, expert on the occult and arcana, a wise and well-traveled old tortoise named Shanter. However, a boatload of political intrigue and devious mischief is unearthed after a coordinated attack on a critical trading port by the FPA's chief rival, Conshorta, and the ruthless Amurzan slave gang known as the Black Sky. What's worse, deadly thorns of treachery begin to show even within the ranks of those Amelia had only just recently begun to call her friends. Now Amelia must become a Pyrate in more than just title. She must be the eye of the storm and hail the oncoming chaos with nothing but the steel and shot at her side and her will to see destiny through to the bitter end.
