The novel is intended for those readers to whom themes such as the origins of democracy and the free thought of Athens are of interest.
This trilogy reveals everyday life, over a period of about a day and a half.
Here one may meet illustrious characters including the poets Aeschylus and Phrynichos, but also ordinary Athenians, who are awakening to their new-found power, in the new society. The goddess Athena herself, meanwhile, is not so far away.
