Dresden is something of a miracle city that has risen from the ashes, literally. This city was largely destroyed near the end of WWII, and, as a visitor, you would never know this, as so many of the beautiful, Baroque-era buildings have been completely rebuilt. As a visitor, you can marvel at an incredible array of palaces, a cathedral, and other architectural marvels and do so all within an easy stroll within the delightful Old Town area.
This guide provides an overview of Dresden and the leading points of interest both in the heart of the city and in the neighboring New Town area as well. In addition, guidance is provided on enjoyable day trips, such as a tour of the Saxon Switzerland National Park or tours to a notable porcelain factory.
