The diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the oral cavity is under the scope of dentistry. Many systemic diseases occur with symptoms, which manifest in the orofacial region. The mouth can also be affected by gastrointestinal and cutaneous conditions. The treatment of these involves restorative, prosthetic, endodontic and periodontal treatments and therapies. The diagnosis and examination of the oral cavity is done through radiographs or X-rays. Dentists can perform oral surgery procedures like dental implant placement and prescribe local anesthetics, antibiotics, fluorides, painkillers, sedatives/hypnotics and other medications for the treatment of various conditions of the neck and the head. This book aims to shed light on some of the unexplored aspects in the diagnosis and treatment of oral diseases and the recent researches in dentistry.
