Each layman, regardless of his position in a Christian organization, should seek to learn more about the scriptures through personal research and personal communion with God. It is understood that such research is not required for personal salvation; however, this continuous association with biblical passages should instill in each individual a hunger for deeper understanding. One area of biblical study that certainly stands out among the rest is the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. This lies at the heart of our Christian faith; thus it is important to fully recognize the totality of the spiritual and physical struggles Jesus endured on the cross. Why was Jesus' death by crucifixion? Was Judas given thirty pieces of silver for a kiss? Why did two thieves die with Jesus? Why was there vinegar and gall at the cross? Why did the soldier pierce Jesus with the spear? "The Cross Trap" will answer these questions and explain why the Crucifixion was a formidable and almost perfect trap.
