Originally developed for their vivid colors and violent temperament, they were used in fish combat, a traditional Thai sport called "Ikan Laga." This is a centuries-old custom that has its origins in gaming and leisure. The combatants gave rise to the beautiful variety we see today because they were carefully bred for resilience, beauty, and fighting capability.
