"Annie's Song" is the true story of the unusual friendship between two ten year-olds, set in the 1950's. Emma is funny and smart and lives with her Italian family, across the way from Annie, who is mentally challenged. Emma's home is full of music and great cooking while Annie's home is somber and quiet. Together, however, they learn just what makes the other 'tick' and prove along the way, that love does, indeed, conquer all. This story is a glorious tribute to special needs children everywhere and everyone who would befriend them. For forty years Betsy Corona wanted to write the story of Emma and Annie. She finally got her chance in 2006. After working for several years in her parish elementary school's library, she came to realize the audience for such a story and began to write. "Annie's Song" was written as a legacy for the real life "Annie." Betsy is married and lives in Michigan where she and her husband, Rick, enjoy their many children and grandchildren.
