Opis książki

The Haft Paikar is an epic poem written by the Persian poet Nizami of Ganja. The poem tells the story of Bahram Gur, a legendary king of Persia who ruled in the 5th century CE. The title of the poem, Haft Paikar, refers to the seven princesses that Bahram Gur marries over the course of his life. The poem is divided into seven sections, each of which tells the story of one of Bahram Gur's marriages. Each section is named after the princess that Bahram marries, and each princess represents a different virtue or quality that Bahram must learn in order to become a wise and just ruler. The first section tells the story of Bahram's marriage to the princess of India, who teaches him the importance of generosity. The second section tells the story of his marriage to the princess of China, who teaches him the importance of patience. The third section tells the story of his marriage to the princess of Rome, who teaches him the importance of justice. The fourth section tells the story of his marriage to the princess of Turan, who teaches him the importance of courage. The fifth section tells the story of his marriage to the princess of Yemen, who teaches him the importance of wisdom. The sixth section tells the story of his marriage to the princess of Khwarazm, who teaches him the importance of humility. The final section tells the story of his marriage to the princess of Azerbaijan, who teaches him the importance of love.Throughout the poem, Bahram Gur faces many challenges and obstacles, but he ultimately learns the lessons that each of his wives teaches him. The poem is a celebration of Persian culture and values, and it has been widely read and admired for centuries.1924. This book contains Volume I (Translation) and Volume II (Commentary) of the original work.
