Maia of the Forest

Thumbelina was born in the spring and found life to be a joy. But as the days progress, she finds the world around her changing and she is swept away from the safety she craves. Some of those changes bring sorrow and hardship. Learning to recognize who can be trusted and who cannot, she overcomes the helplessness she battled and finds the hope she was searching for.

As an artist going through a season of discouragement, Natasha Kennedy found the process of drawing and retelling this fairy tale comforting and reassuring. The story and artwork are for those who feel small in view of life's storms, as she did at the time, and find comfort in creativity.
