Demystifying Dementia

Despite being diagnosed with dementia, people with the condition still hold an important role within families. They don't stop being the person they were before dementia took hold. What's more, they didn't choose to be forgetful, incontinent, agitated or rude. Nor did they choose to behave inappropriately, or to become aggressive. They cannot control what is happening to them. Even though they may behave very differently, they are still the same mum, dad, granddad or grandma that we used to know. Above all else, they need our support and understanding.
